Amazon Comprehend is an NLP API solution that provides modules comparable to Google Cloud NLP, including Entity Identification, Entity Sentiment Analysis, and Document Sentiment Analysis. A key distinguishing feature of Amazon Comprehend is its dedicated modules for Key Phrases Detection (Keyword Extraction), Language Detection, and PI Detection (Personal Identification Information) extraction, which are not offered by Google Cloud NLP.

It is noted that Amazon Comprehend’s key phrases often overlap with what Google Cloud classifies as entities of type “other”. The API can be accessed via a console demo for one-off analyses, or used programmatically, and is one of the “three giants” (along with Google and IBM) whose APIs can automate a large part of text processing tasks.
