Internal Link Opportunities Quick Find (Google Sheets Template)
Finding internal link opportunities usually means searching your site page by page for mentions of the terms you want to link from. This Google Sheets template by Lazarina Stoy speeds that up: paste in your crawled content and a list of target keywords with the URLs you want them to link to, and the sheet shows the pages where each keyword appears, with a count of inlink opportunities.
It works with any crawler that can export page content. The steps are in the sheet itself:
1. Crawl your website with Screaming Frog, or any other tool that can export the content of your pages (a custom extraction of the main content works well).
2. Export the URLs and the custom extraction.
3. Paste the URLs into column A of the analysis sheet, starting from cell A6, and the matching content into column B, starting from B6.
4. Enter the keywords you want to search your site for, starting from cell A10 of the instructions sheet, and the URL each keyword should link to in column B, starting from B10.
5. Go back to the analysis sheet and filter by inlink opportunity count to see the pages where each keyword is found.
Use this for:
‧ Quick internal linking passes after publishing a new page you want to support
‧ Internal link audits, as the first, rule-based step before entity- or ML-driven link discovery
‧ Handing writers and editors a concrete list of pages and anchors to update
This is perfect for SEO consultants who want a fast, no-code way to surface internal link opportunities, and the process is shown in Lazarina’s guide to internal link audits and topic clustering with machine learning.
